  • Well, What a day! Sports Day 2026 became a Water Fun Day!

    Published 02/07/26

To ensure the children stayed safe and had the absolute best time, we traded the running activities for water fun. #Best. Day. Ever.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the water sponge race! Everyone followed the shade around the school to stay cool, but nobody stayed dry! Children, parents, and teachers were completely soaked. The sound of laughter and the occasional shriek from a cold sponge filled the school grounds. Aside from splashing each other, we made sure children drank plenty of water  to stay hydrated.

Congratulations to our parent team for an incredibly spirited run in the water race. For a moment there, it truly looked like you had it in the bag!

Thank you to everyone for making it such a memorable splash. Parents, we look forward to defending our title against you next year! A huge shoutout to Mr Jordan for organising the day and all the staff. What an absolutely fun day!

  • Torches, Magnets and Big Questions: What a Science Morning!

    Published 02/07/26

What a brilliant morning we had at our recent Science Morning! It wasn’t just our children acting like real-world scientists, the parents did some serious investigation too! It was great to watch the tables turn, with the children becoming the teachers and proudly sharing everything they’ve learnt in science this year. Equipped with torches, Year 6 and their parents were busy exploring light and shadows.

Down in Key Stage 1, things got beautifully messy as KS1 and their grown-ups tested what floats, what sinks, and what sticks to magnets. The children also showed off their animal classification skills, sorting creatures into their correct scientific groups like scientists in the making. Year 5 led some fantastic investigations into the invisible world of forces, testing out pulls, pushes, and gravity.

Watching the kids lead the way, seeing them explain tricky concepts to their parents with so much confidence and a massive smile on their faces was just wonderful. A huge thank you to all the parents who came along, got stuck in, and weren’t afraid to ask those big "why" questions. You have some seriously talented little scientists on your hands!

  • Jubilee Joy at the Hackney Empire!

    Published 02/07/26

What an unforgettable evening! On Tuesday 23rd June, children in Year 4 took to the historic stage at the Hackney Empire for the annual Festival of Voices. Not even the summer heatwave could dampen their spirits, or their voices,as the children sang their hearts out. This year’s theme was Jubilee Joy, and the energy in the theatre was absolutely electric from the very first note. The show kicked off with a magnificent performance of the Festival of Voices song, composed by our very own Mr. Murdoch, followed by  There’s No Place Like London.

Ranelagh and Curwen spread pure joy with their moving performances of Everlasting Love and Pipes of Peace. The absolute highlight was the unforgettable experience of singing alongside a live band. Seeing our children perform with such passion made this year extra special.

A massive thank you to all the staff who made this event possible, and to the parents, for your continued support and enthusiasm in the audience. The children were absolute superstars and we could not be prouder of their performance. They truly brought joy!

  • Year 6 Explore the Vibrant Streets of Shoreditch! πŸ›οΈ

    Published 08/06/26

Our Year 6 pupils enjoyed an unforgettable trip to Brick Lane and Shoreditch recently, stepping out of the classroom and straight into the colourful world of urban street art. Building on their recent school projects about the elusive artist Banksy, the children were left absolutely awestruck by the massive, stunning murals decorating the neighbourhood.

The highlight of the day was having the incredible Mr. Choudhury as our guide. As a lifelong resident of the area, he brought the streets to life with his deep knowledge of East London's rich artistic history, sharing the powerful, real-life stories behind the artwork.

It wasn’t just an art trip, though! The children also put on their geographical hats, conducting brilliant hands-on fieldwork to map and study how this bustling and diverse part of London has changed over time.

Our pupils  came back buzzing with inspiration. Afeefah shared, “It was amazing to see so many different styles of art in real life — every corner had something exciting to discover!” Ziann added, “The trip was awesome because we learnt the stories behind the artwork and got to explore such a cool part of London.”

  • Fairplay House: Adventure, Teamwork and Memories to Treasure! πŸŒ²β›Ίβ€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹β€‹

    Published 03/06/26

Year 5 had an unforgettable adventure at Fairplay House, packed full of exciting activities, challenges and plenty of laughter! For many children, this was their first time away from home, and they showed fantastic independence throughout the trip. From learning how to make their beds to taking part in a duty rota to help keep their rooms tidy, we hope these newly learnt skills continue at home too!

The week was full of opportunities for children to challenge themselves. Many conquered their fears of heights, including one very nervous pupil who went from having “jelly legs” at the top of the climbing tower to eagerly running back for a second turn on the zip wire. The children showed incredible courage, resilience and teamwork during activities such as high ropes, caving and den building. Working together to navigate the caves and encourage one another was wonderful to see.

Crab catching caused great excitement too, with an amazing 97 crabs caught and safely released! The squeals of joy and excitement whenever a crab was pulled from the water will certainly be remembered for a long time.

The evenings were just as special, with a peaceful evening walk followed by a bonfire and toasted marshmallows. Throughout the week confidence grew and memories were made that will be treasured for years to come. Fairplay House was truly an adventure to remember!

  • KS1 Green Street Mosque Trip πŸ•Œ

    Published 20/05/26

Our KS1 children recently went on a fantastic trip to the Green Street Mosque in Newham. The visit was a wonderful opportunity for the children to step inside a Muslim place of worship, learn about its importance, and see how the local community comes together to practice their faith.

Both the children and staff were absolutely captivated by the building’s stunning architecture, which is filled with beautiful geometric patterns and intricate calligraphy artwork.

During the tour, the children explored the main areas of the mosque and got a close-up look at some special Islamic artefacts.

    Fumni was buzzing with excitement:
"We enjoyed looking at the artefacts such as the Quran and prayer beads. We also listened to a short talk about the key areas in the mosque—it was amazing!"

Thomas was equally impressed by the atmosphere:
"The mosque was beautifully designed, and there were lots of people learning in the mosque."

At Ranelagh, we truly believe that visiting different places of worship is vital. These experiences do so much more than just teach facts; they build real understanding, tolerance, and respect. By exploring different faiths firsthand, we are helping our children grow into thoughtful, open-minded citizens who are ready to thrive in our wonderfully multicultural world.
