Some of Ranleagh's Year 5 children attended a Junior RE conference day at Elmhurst. They met up with lots of schools children across Newham to discuss and celebrate the amazing diversity within the borough. They played a variety of team work games, working with each other to solve problems. They answered philosophical questions: listening carefully to other peoples' opinions, respecting them and asking questions to develop their understanding further.
Ranelagh rallied on a cold February Friday morning for the termly School Council's Hot Chocolate morning. The money raised is usually donated to a children's charity, however this term, after seeing the devastating images of the Earthquake in Turkey and Syria, Ranelagh's School Council insisted that the money should go to helping the victims of this. The generous donations from parents and carers meant that nearly 200 pound was raised in an hour for Turkey-Syria appeal. There will be donation box in Ranelagh's reception area for a week after half-term.
On 14th November, Ranelagh launched Anti bullying term with an Odd Socks day. Children and adults across the school wore odd schools to show that they are all unique but still special. Ranelagh will now spend the rest of the term learning about the effects that bullying can have on people and how together we can stand up against it and 'Reach out' to others around us.
Ranelagh's Year 6 worked with top artists last Summer. Their work is displayed in the centre of Stratford outside Alice Billings House. The children's brief was to paint someone that they admire . This is part of Ranelagh's partnership with #PaintTheChange, a public art organisation that raises social issues through creativity and community engagement.
As you can see from the website Paint The Change - The One I Admire Ranelagh children are pretty incredible with equally incredible and inspirational adults in their life.
Ranelagh competed in the TTLT Girls Football Tournament alongside 9 other teams; all hoping to be in the top 6 and make it to the finals on November 25th. After 5 close games it came down to a shoot out and Karina in 6T8 scored the winning goal for Ranelagh to advance to the finals! Well done girls, let's bring it home

Last Friday some of our Year 5 and 6 student competed in the TTLT Tag Rugby Tournament against 7 other schools. It was a great afternoon at Memorial Park, where parents were able to attend to cheer Ranelagh on to victory! As always our students made us proud, seeing them compete and work as a team. This week with the added bonus of bringing home gold medals! Please join me in congratulating all the students who took part in the variety of TTLT Sporting Events this half term, making everyone at Ranelagh proud!
'Inspirerend' were the words that came out of visitors' mouths as they walked around Ranelagh Primary school. They had travelled from the Netherlands to observe the fantastic practice of inclusion in primary schools.
The Year 5 girls gave a tour of the Ranelagh building |
Ranelagh competed in a Bench Ball event against Selwyn and Curwen Primary School. Our year 3 and 4 students represented Ranelagh, not only demonstrating great resilience and respect for their opponents and teammates, but also winning the competition!
Imran from 3M7 and Alishba from 4T3 were voted as the teams MVPs. Both showing great sportsmanship and skill on the field. They remained positive and determined even when losing and made us all proud.
