Ranelagh Primary School

Ranelagh Primary School

Ranelagh awarded another Gold for School Mental Health

Ranelagh’s recovery curriculum has 5 priorities: physical healthiness, computing, academic knowledge, creativity and mental healthiness.  It is with great pleasure that Ranelagh primary and nursery school has been recognised for its amazing practice to develop mental healthiness. Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools has awarded Ranelagh ‘School Mental Health Award’ – Gold Status.

They recognised how, not only during these tricky times, but, in pre Covid times, Ranelagh makes sure that mental healthiness is essential to both children’s and adult’s development. Ranelagh has ensured that children, parents and teachers have tools to support their mental wellbeing. Most people feel that talking about feeling down and unable to cope is not important. At Ranelagh, we allow the space, the  time and an ear to work through these feelings; we give people the tools to reflect and understand them and offer services to explore these feelings further.  Mrs Patel, who is paramount in generating this ethos stated, "Having mental healthiness allows people to feel that they can ’Be the best that they can be’. It’s so important, in these times, to know that we are part of a community that cares for the mental wellbeing of all. Knowing this makes us stronger."

  Teachers gather weekly for

      ' knit and knatter '

A strong Parent Group who support each other as well as the wellbeing of the community.

This strength is what will get us through these tricky times and will positively equip us for the times ahead. Our community will come out stronger and more powerful through these times and Ranelagh has had an incredibly important role in this. A huge Thank you to the whole of our community for their bravery, resilience and hope. It’s fantastic that we have all been recognised for our fantastic achievement in making our community mentally healthier.
