  • Poetic Perfection

    Published 07/01/18

Ranelagh pupils have a passion for penmanship, demonstrated by their love of writing both in and outside of the classroom. Shree, a pupil in Year 3, put pen to paper last term and entered the Young Writers poetry competition, crafting a beautiful and poignant piece titled ‘Fire and Water.’ His poem was recognised for its brilliance and awarded with a place in the Young Writers Anthology, which will be publicised this term.

Young Writers is an organisation that works with schools, parents and young writers across the world and has been doing so successfully for over two decades. Their aim is to promote a love of poetry and creative writing by running annual competitions aimed at celebrating young writers and young voices. Shree’s poem was submitted for entry into this year’s poetry competition, titled ‘Rhymecraft,’ and was selected for publication; an amazing and prestigious accomplishment.

  • Ranelagh Goes Royal

    Published 19/11/17

Last week Ranelagh was transformed into an elegant castle bustling with Kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses (and everything regal in between) as Key Stage One held their own Royal Banquet. Festooned with Tudor and medieval decorations, our very own ground floor lunch hall became quite the site to behold.

All of Year 1 and 2, inspired by their learning  in the Ranelagh Curriculum, created and attended their very own 'Royal Banquet' complete with music, drink and dancing. The 'Ranelagh Royals' enjoyed medieval and Tudor dancing while they dined and were waited on, hand and foot, by their servants and paiges Mrs. Sheikh, Mrs. Begum, Mrs. Patel and even our Deputy Head Mrs. Welburn.

  • A love for the library

    Published 13/11/17

The librarians in our school play a vital role and have become a very important part of team Ranelagh! Each and every day, they give up their own playtimes and lunches to help run not only the school library but also the 100 Books Library located in the front foyer.

TES (Times Educational Supplement), after consulting primary school teachers up and down the country, comprised a list of the top 100 must-read books that all children should read before leaving primary school (for the list in full click here) and Ranelagh, in keeping with this initiative, created a ‘100 Books Library’ of our own in the front foyer. Every playtime and lunchtime, children from across the school come in to choose a book, often recommended by our wonderful librarians, and they read them either at school or at home.

This half term, as a thank you for all the hard work that our librarians do, they were treated to a very special visit to the Stratford Library where they joined children from other schools in learning about Jeff Kinney, the world famous author of the ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’ books. They enjoyed learning how to illustrate the main character from the story as well as take part in the various book quizzes, testing their knowledge. The event was not only informative but great fun!

    Published 31/10/17

The children at Ranelagh Primary School have once again taken action to raise global awareness about a variety of planetary issues. Last half term the children were learning through the topic Our Planet Earth, which had every year group from Nursery to Year 6, studying a different region or biome across the world: Year 1 learned about oceans and seas, Year 3 the rainforest, Year 5 extreme environments and Year 6 explored climate change and sustainability.
