Last Friday, Ranelagh Primary School was filled with festive cheer as families, children, staff, and the wider community came together to celebrate our annual Winter Fair. It was a joyful and fun-packed evening that showcased the strong community spirit at Ranelagh.

Children and families enjoyed a variety of Christmas-themed activities, including: Santa’s Grotto, Christmas Café with festive treats, Pin the Nose on Rudolph and many more fun-filled activities. Our Year 6 pupils proudly demonstrated their entrepreneurial skills by planning and running several stalls. Their creativity, teamwork, and confidence were clear to see, impressing everyone with their enthusiasm and responsibility. Under the tree’s lights, our school choir, led by Mr Murdoch, opened the fair with a performance of Christmas carols to mark the beginning of the evening. The support, participation, and positivity shown throughout the event reflects the strength and unity of our school community. Thank you to parents, carers, staff, governors, trustees, volunteers, and pupils who helped make this year’s Winter Fair a great success.

A huge well done to all our Year 5 children who successfully completed their two-week swimming course! It was a big commitment; heading out every morning, working hard in the pool, and returning to school tired and hungry, but they showed fantastic determination throughout.

It’s been brilliant to see their confidence in the water grow day by day, showing real resilience and a wonderful sense of enjoyment. Learning to swim is such an important life skill. Developing water confidence and understanding water safety helps children to stay safe and enjoy themselves around water throughout their lives.

If you are looking to build confidence, improve your swimming strokes , float away any stress or  enjoy a swim with your family and friends, more information can be found here.

  • Year 6 Geography in Action ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ

    Published 02/12/25

'What? We are going out to look at cars on the road near traffic lights?' a bemused Year 6 asked Miss Monya. But there was more to it than that.

As part of their geography fieldwork, the Year 6 children are looking at pollution in their local area and coming up with ideas to reduce this. The children have learnt how Greenhouse gases are formed and how these can be reduced. Observing the amount of cars idling was part of the trip, but they had the opportunity to see how town planning works and to observe the solutions the building company has created to reduce Greenhouse gas. Beautiful flowers, new sapling trees and water fountains galore can be seen at Twelve Trees opposite West Ham tube station. It is well worth a look.
