  • Ranelagh Opens the door to visitors from all over London and Holland 🌍

    Published 06/05/26

We were incredibly proud that Ranelagh was selected as one of only 100 schools across London to open its doors for the RISE Open Fortnight—an opportunity for schools to showcase excellent practice in Inclusion. It was a  wonderful reflection of the work happening here every day.

Alongside visitors from across London, we were delighted to host a group of Dutch headteachers, who travelled to Newham. Over the past decade, we have learnt a great deal from one another, and Ranelagh has shared its practice with colleagues from abroad. It was a pleasure to welcome them back and show them what makes our school so special.

    The Inclusion Ambassadors Shine

A highlight of the visit from our Dutch colleagues was their meeting with our remarkable Inclusion Ambassadors. The children spoke confidently and thoughtfully about the ways they help others understand that everyone thinks, learns, and behaves differently. They explained how, as a school community, we work to see things from different perspectives, support each other, and model positive ways to regulate behaviour.

The Dutch headteachers were extremely impressed. They could not have been more complimentary—not just about the school’s inclusive ethos, but particularly about the knowledge and kindness shown by our Inclusion Ambassadors.

  • 🕺A Night to Remember: The Best Disco Ever!🪩

    Published 06/05/26

Our school hall was transformed into the ultimate party zone this week as we hosted our most epic school disco yet. The atmosphere was electric from the very first song, with the dance floor being packed as students showcased their most impressive moves to a soundtrack of all-time favourite hits.

To keep the celebration going, we enjoyed a feast fit for superstars featuring mountains of fresh pizza and endless helpings of popcorn. Chilled drinks kept everyone hydrated and fuelled for even more dancing as the high-energy evening reached its peak. We want to extend a massive thank you to every student and staff member who joined us to make the event so special.

The success of the night was about more than just fun, as we managed to raise a fantastic amount of money through ticket and snack sales. We are incredibly proud to announce that a significant portion of these funds will be donated directly to Young Minds. This wonderful charity provides essential support for young people’s mental health, which is a cause very close to our school’s heart. Thank you to everyone for your incredible support in making this unforgettable evening both a celebration and a meaningful way to give back to others.

  • 🌊Year 5 Cody Docks Trip 🌊

    Published 06/05/26

This week, Year 5 stepped beyond the classroom walls for an inspiring journey to Cody Dock on the River Lea to bring their geography and art studies to life. To support their current focus on Rivers, the students spent the morning observing the movement and characteristics of the water firsthand.

They gained a deeper understanding of the natural world by seeing exactly how the river shapes and carves the local landscape over time. The trip also served as a stunning open-air art studio, providing the perfect backdrop for the children to channel their inner Claude Monet.

Armed with painting materials at the water’s edge, our young artists worked to capture the unique light and dancing reflections found on the River Lea. Much like the famous Impressionists, the pupils practiced using quick, expressive brushstrokes to translate shifting colours into their own unique masterpieces. This hands-on experience allowed the children to blend scientific inquiry with creative flair in a way that a textbook simply cannot match.

It was a wonderful morning filled with fresh air and discovery that truly invigorated this term’s curriculum. We are incredibly proud of the curiosity and artistic talent displayed by all of our students during their time at the dock. Their finished paintings will soon be on display, serving as a vibrant reminder of a successful day of learning in the great outdoors.

  • Mini Marathon 2026

    Published 29/04/26

On Saturday 25th April, in the beautiful City of London, there was a buzz in the air that even the London buses couldn’t compete with. Children from Ranelagh—past and present—arrived alongside proud parents and devoted carers.

The reason for such keen anticipation? Lacing up their trainers tightly, they would take on the TSC London Marathon. They were guided by Leony, Romilly and Luana, into the pen to begin the warm-up.  They were taken to the top of St James’s park, near the Horse Guard parade, then they were off, cheered on by roaring crowds. A huge thanks to Mr Jordan, Miss Birte and Miss Monya who tried unsuccessfully to keep up with the children.

The KS1 marathon was equally anticipated – so much so that a parent asked if their child from nursery could run it. We at Ranelagh expect a lot from our children, but not that a 2-and-half year old  would run a marathon. A huge thank you should go to Lena’s dad and Nura’s mum, who, alongside a very slow Miss Welburn and Mrs Sheikh helped keep the children running the right way past Buckingham Palace and down the mall, the same route where Sabastian Sawe would break the marathon record the very next day.

It was an amazing day and the smiles on the children’s faces as they held their victory medal said it all.

  • World Book Day – Celebrating the Joy of Reading

    Published 16/03/26

World Book Day took place on Thursday 5th March and was a wonderful celebration of books, stories and the joy of reading. World Book Day aims to change lives through a love of books and reading, and this year feels especially meaningful as it is also the National Year of Reading.

To help inspire a lifelong love of reading, parents were invited in to see how their children learn to read and to choose a book to take home and keep. Our aim is simple but powerful: to ensure every child has a book of their own and experiences the joy that reading can bring.

Throughout the day, classrooms were filled with exciting activities. From storytelling, reading for pleasure and art linked to favourite stories, the children enjoyed exploring books in many different ways. Reading truly was fun for everyone.

One of the most treasured parts of the week was welcoming parents into school to read with their children. Sharing stories together created a calm and special start to the day and is always a highlight for both children and staff.

Our Thursday assembly was also brought to life, with children and staff dressing up as their favourite book characters. It was wonderful to see such creativity and enthusiasm across the school.

World Book Day reminds us that reading opens the door to imagination. Thank you to all the families who supported the day and helped us celebrate the magic of books.

  • The Catwalk Comes to Ranelagh

    Published 23/02/26

Year 5 strutted their stuff on the catwalk this week. Forget Armani and Versace — these designers went straight to the recycling bin chic! They created one-of-a-kind outfits from clothing once destined for landfill. Think of T-shirts made from old carrier bags, skirts fashioned from worn-out bedsheets, and plenty of other runway-ready surprises. The show was filmed by a local university, and their designs will even be showcased at the London College of Fashion. Truly inspirational — and proof that fashion really can save the planet (and our bin spaces).

  • The Positives of being Mentally Healthy….

    Published 23/02/26

Throughout Mental Health Week (9th -15th February), Staff and children pulled out all the stops to make sure everyone at  Ranelagh felt mentally supported.

From assemblies to debates, children were given every opportunity to talk about good mental health. We created safe spaces in the playground for children to talk about things that made them sad or uncomfortable. We learnt that it was okay to feel worried, but how we deal with this emotion is much more important. By talking openly about our mental health, we were able to challenge the stereotypes and reduce the stigma around poor mental health. We know that Ranelagh truly is a school that promotes kindness, empathy and inclusion. What a great place to work and learn!
