Year 6 and Our changing World 🌍

Year 6 has been learning about Our Changing World with a particular focus on sustainability and the impact we have on our local environment. As part of their learning, the children took their geography skills outside the classroom and carried out fieldwork around our school and the surrounding area. They identified the local infrastructure and explored how the area is used by the community. They also completed a Green Space and Biodiversity survey, observing the plants, wildlife and green spaces around us and thinking about why these areas are so important for both people and nature.
The children also had the exciting opportunity to visit London City Airport, where they observed the area and discussed issues such as pollution, transport, land use and the impact on human activity on the environment. The children developed a deeper understanding of why it is important to protect our environment and work together to make our school, local area and wider community more sustainable for the future.
