Newham Carnival Celebrated at Ranelagh
Every year, in the Summer term, Ranelagh loves to get involved in the Newham Carnival. An annual event, the carnival takes place in a different location each year across Newham, with over 50,000 people in attendance. Last year was no different, as Central Park played host over the weekend of July 8th-9th.
Hundreds of school children, community groups and residents took to the streets to celebrate this year’s theme, ‘A World of Carnivals,’ rejoicing in Newham’s diversity and drawing inspiration from other globally renowned carnivals.
Here at Ranelagh our Year 3’s led on several workshops, choreographing dance routines and designing costumes that were then used in the carnival. Our significant contribution was even recognised by Councillor Mas Patel, who attended one of our Friday assemblies to present our school with a beautiful embossed award! In addition to this, those children who took part in the parade were also awarded glittering medals to celebrate their participation.
